Liebster Awards!

Hi lovely fun people!  The beloved Liebster Award is making the rounds again, and the lovely VougishstormZefiewings, & misterwolf86 have nominated me!  Considering my blog has been very quiet, I really appreciate the kind show of support.  The Zales mean a lot to me, and I will not let the blog die.  This is probably just the swift kick in the plumbob that I needed to get going again.

There rules state that I have to;

–Say thank you to the person who has nominated you for the award.
– Answer the 11 questions the person has asked you.
– Nominate people (comment on their blog to let them know).
– Ask the people you have nominated 11 questions

Thank you Vougish, Zefie, and misterwolf!  ❤

Here’s Vougish’s questions:

  1. What is love? Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me… no more.
  2. What thing from the sims world (any game) would you like to be real?  Affordable home ownership/building.
  3. Who was the first Sim you ever created?  Hard to say, I know I didn’t make a real person.  I always start out trying to make a beautiful woman.  Is that weird?
  4. What is your favorite flavor of chips?  I think I just like plain tortilla chips best.  I love salsa.
  5. What was the reason you decided to write a blog about what goes on in your game?  I’ve loved The Sims since the original, but I always found myself playing the same way, having an idea, getting bored with it, then starting a new family.  I googled “ways to play The Sims” and found Pink’s Blog and became inspired.  After that I found boolprop and have been so encouraged and learned so much about challenges, and what people can do with their game.  It’s very cool.
  6. Would you rather face an ice age or all volcanos on the planet erupting at once?  I think all the volcanoes erupting at once would cause an ice age, would they not?  Blocking out the sun and somewhat?  If we had a little preparation, I could handle an ice age.
  7. How many slices of pizzas can you eat in one sitting?  And embarrassingly large amount.  🙂
  8. If you found a genie’s lamp and had three wishes, what would they be?  I only need one wish. “Every time I say ‘I wish’ it would come true”.  So I couldn’t even screw anything up.  I could wish for something, it went badly, then I could just go “I wish I hadn’t done that…” It’s my foolproof plan.  And I think it is a bit of a loophole to the often said “no wishing for more wishes” rule.
  9. If it was only one wish and it had to be about changing something about your feet, what would it be?  The timing on this is perfect, since I just tore my fascia ligament.  I would wish that I didn’t tear my fascia ligament!
  10. Would you describe yourself as a potato? Sure, I’m round, versatile, and have eyes.
  11. Who is your favorite Pokémon? If you don’t like Pokémon, why don’t you? I don’t know anything about Pokémon… so like, I don’t dislike it, I just don’t participate in Pokémon culture.  I also am pretty sure I’d like it, and quite frankly, I have enough draws on my spare time.

Here are mrwolf’s questions:

1: Which book or book series has had a profound effect on your life?  I know I’m not alone with this, but Harry Potter, I am constantly reading/re-reading them.  I love the impact the series has had on the world – let alone myself.
2: Who is the funniest person on the planet?  My best friend, Whitney.
3: What is your favourite Symphonic Metal album? Or, if for some reason you don’t have one, your favourite album in another genre?  I’m weird.  I don’t do music.  That doesn’t mean I don’t like it, but I do it differently than most people.
4: What is one of your favourite video games?  The Sims!  Okay, I also play Mass Effect and Tomb Raider. What video game is simply the worst?  Not sure it counts, but Candy Crush.
*For diversity’s sake, you can’t pick any of The Sims games or spin-offs.
5: Windows or Mac? Laptop or Desktop? PC or Console (then which one?)  I’m a Windows Desktop gamer, but we have a Mac Laptop.  Both…  I also play on the Wii U, and I’m going to get a Switch soon.  I had an Xbox 360, but wasn’t playing it.
6: Which TV series(es) are you watching now and would you recommend it/them? I’m an absolute Trekkie.  I’m currently watching both Deep Space 9 and Voyager after just finishing The Next Generation for the 5th time.  And yes.  Yes I recommend absolutely all of them.
7: Your friend has just ingested some oak-matured mead and falls on the ground in spasms, foaming at the mouth. It appears to be a fast-acting poison. What do you do?  Bezoar in the mouth!  While a useless professor stands there and watches.
8: Live forever or live a short life full of happiness? I do not want to live forever.  It would be lonely.  I don’t want a short life either, as mine is very full of happiness.
9: You are walking to the grocery store when you notice a little old lady sitting in the backseat of a parked car. It’s not warm out and the windows are closed. Do you do something?  You say it’s not warm out… perhaps she is just waiting for someone?  I would not do anything.
10: What is the least important topic of discussion? And the most?  Oh, I don’t know.  Just because something is unimportant to me, doesn’t mean I should trivialize it for other people.  And I guess it goes the same way for the other part of the question… Just because I find something important, doesn’t mean it is the most important.
11: What’s one thing you want to let your readers know?  That I care about them… Their happiness and well-being matters to me.  A lot of us are quiet, introverted people… and if one of them needed help, needed someone to listen to them, they could reach out to me.

And last but not least, Zefie’s questions:

  1. Besides sims, what is your favorite video game/games? I play a lot of casual games.  I like the Time Management genre and play the very well thought out and developed Delicious and Heart’s Medicine games.  I also play Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Tomb Raider
  2. What made you pick your username?  I think it’s just my name, isn’t it?  A name I use frequently out in the web is “LoveHerds”  It’s a play on “love hurts” and a reference to my dogs.  They’re herding dogs… you know, like sheep and goats and stuff.
  3. What made you pick your challenge or legacy style?  I’m a fool.  Ha ha ha… I wanted to go big, and tackle 26 Generations.  I actually prefer the ISBI style, I think it’s easier really – only one Sim to worry about.  The successes and failures of the others are totally not your fault.
  4. How did you make/pick your founder? I clicked the randomizer until someone kind of interesting popped up.  I liked him.
  5. What movie have you seen recently that you were really impressed by? Hacksaw Ridge.  It’s violent and gory, and definitely a little traumatic, but I loved it.
  6. Where do you fall on the nerd/geek spectrum? Or not at all? Why?  I’m a Trekkie, so that definitely pushes me into the spectrum… but I think if you just met me in passing, you wouldn’t know. 🙂
  7. Coke or Pepsi? Coke.
  8. What’s your favorite pokemon?  I don’t Pokémon.  I think they’re pretty cute though.
  9. What is your favorite magic style? I love Harry Potter, but there was a series I read as a young adult that I loved… The Song of the Lioness, and it had a very beautiful approach to magic.
  10. Do you watch any Youtubers or Twitchers? Who?  I follow my sister’s daughter.  No one else.
  11. If you belong to a Fandom, what’s one thing that you feel like everyone else in it loves but you do not?  I’m definitely in the Harry Potter fandom, and I feel like Draco Malfoy gets too much love.  He is NOT a decent human being.  A victim of circumstance, raised in a hateful home, but not some misunderstood teen.  But, I know I’m in the minority there.  Oh, and as for The Sims?  I think all TS2 Sims look alike.  So there.

Now for some nominations!  I know lots of you have already been nominated, so I’m going to pick a few who I don’t THINK have been nominated.  They also may have been a little quiet, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth a read!  Besides, I’ve been quiet! 🙂

Okay, you three – have some Questions!

  1. What’s the last thing you put in your mouth?
  2. Can you build a campfire?
  3. Do you have a marketable skill?  Like knitting, or dog training, or carving wooden hummingbirds?  Tell me about it!
  4. Do you have a green thumb?
  5. Spiders… run screaming, smash ’em, or let ’em live?
  6. What’s the last book you read?
  7. Do you enjoy cooking?

Golden Plumbobs 2017!

Well hi there!  Despite my long absence, spotty updating, and general neglect of everyone’s favorite family of idiots and alphabets, The Zales have been nominated for a couple Golden Plumbobs this year!

I’m touched, especially since I’ve done so little with them as of late.

We were nominated for Funniest Overall Sims 3 Story & Best Sims 3 Challenge!

If anyone is interested in voting for The Zales in either, or both, of those lovely categories, I would be very pleased indeed.

You can vote for Best Challenge HERE
You can vote for Funniest HERE

And – due to these new nominations, I hereby promise to work on those Zales.

Sunshine Blogger Award!

Hi Guys!  I was nominated by both Dawnstar17 & Somebodysangel13 for the Sunshine Blogger Award!

I know this award has ran it’s course, and I’m a little late to the party, but it would have been rude to fail to acknowledge such a kind honor!

I will not be nominating anyone, as my favorites have already received the award, but I will participate in the Q/A.

First, Dawnstar’s!

1.  Red or Blue? Jedi or Sith?
Blue!

2. You open a book and are whisked away to the world of your dreams. What book is it?
Harry Potter!!!!!!

3. You have to pick one to play for the rest of your life. Sims 1, 2, 3, or 4?
I’ll pick 4, since it’s just beginning, and there’s so much more to come!

4. Who’s your favorite character from your blog?
Ooh, good question!  I really enjoyed Ike!

5. Old Ghostbusters or New Ghostbusters?
Old, I haven’t seen the new one yet.

6. What time does the Narwhal bacon?
Que?

7. What is your ideal day of relaxation?
Ocean.  Waves.  Breeze.  Silence.

8. What is the funniest or scariest glitch you’ve seen in-game?
Oh man, I had the TS4 glitch where they baby’s eyes and arms were all elongated? Super creepy.

9. Who was your blog sensei? AKA Who influenced you to start a sims blog?
Pink!

10. Do you know who Llandros is?
Nope.

11. What’s one thing you wish EA would come back and fix in The Sims 3?
I just wish it would work the way they sold it.  I’m totally outraged at the new-ish “pick your packs to play” thing… where they encourage you to NOT pick everything for a better gaming experience.  Seriously?  I bought what you sold, and now you’re telling me I can only use part of it?  No way man.  Lame sauce.

Then Somebodysangel’s questions!

  1. What habit do you have that you would really like to break?
Hmm, I’m a snooze button addict.  Life would be better if I just got out of bed.
  2. Marvel or DC?
Marvel.  But I do love characters from both.
  3. What wild animal would you like to have for a pet? Why?
Good question!  I keep thinking, but I don’t know.  Assuming I could make it love me and be my best friend, I’d go with a giraffe!  I want to touch that fur and go for a ride!
  4. Favourite guilty pleasure?
Spending too much money on the computer and games. 🙂
  5. If you could mash up two movies together, which would they be?
I’m not the biggest movie buff… and I keep thinking of Jurassic Park – which would basically add dinosaurs and mayhem to any movie… so I have no idea!
  6. Do you play mobile games? If so, what’s your favourite and why?
I play Star Trek Timelines, PVZ, and a few card games.  STT is my favorite… because Star Trek!  And I’ve met some cool pepl.
  7. If you could win an Olympic medal, what sport would it be for?
Diving.  I love watching the divers… and I can’t so much as bellyflop successfully.
  8. Favourite movie villain?
    Death from Meet Joe Black.
  9. Would you prefer to pay for a game upfront, or pay to unlock areas/content later?
    I always pay.
  10. Vanilla or chocolate?  Swirl!
  11. Who is your least favourite sim in your story/legacy/challenge?
Great question!  Evan was pretty lame.  Kyle was my least favorite spouse… so far… and I was never good to Melody 🙂

Thanks you guys, for the nominations!  I’m sorry I’ve dropped off a bit!  ❤

Happy Simming!

I’m Sorry.

Hey people who read the Zales.

First, an apology.  I was nominated a couple times for the Spirit Animal award thingie, and I ignored it like a complete ass.  I’m very sorry, and I appreciate the acknowledgement and kindness you guys showed me, that I clearly don’t deserve.

Second, I still love my Zales (and those Lightnings) and eventually I will get posts up.

Lastly – 16 years ago, when I was just 19 years old, I got a puppy and kitten.  For 16 years they were with me.  Countless homes, relationships, and furry, furry face snuggles.  The happiness, joy and love they added to my life was unparalleled.  And I have lost them both.  Within a couple short months of each other, both my sweet, wonderful furbabies were called across the rainbow bridge.
My babies
I miss them beyond words.

The loss has been hard on our house, and blogging just hasn’t been something I’ve felt like doing with my time.

So, please forgive my absence, and my ignoring of the wonderful Spirit Animal awards that went around our beautiful community.

I’ll be back – I promise.

Until then – Happy Simming!

Shameless Plea for Votes!

Hi there! I found out this here little legacy has been nominated for a Golden Plumbob award!

Feel like voting for me?  Fantastic!  You can do so by clicking here!
You might have to join Boolprop to vote, but if you haven’t joined Boolprop, it’s win/win!  Great little online Simming community!

It’s quite the honor, and just being nominated is pretty special!
(But winning would be epic!)

Thanks for reading, everyone!  There IS a new post on the horizon!  See you soon!

Where Oh Where Have Those Little Zales Gone…

…Answer?  Nowhere.  They’re happy and healthy over here on my PC.

Where have I been?  Nowhere.  I’m happy and healthy over here in my house.  Nothing big has happened, nothing new… I just haven’t felt like playing and posting.

I have 3/4th of a Zale update ready to go, and it’s just 4 SimDays until the YA birthday for Natalie and Nova, and then I could heir poll – but I just haven’t been feeling it.

I always tell people – THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN.  IT IS A FUN HOBBY THAT WE DO BECAUSE IT BRINGS US JOY.  It isn’t that I’ve stopped having fun, or that my lovely Zales don’t continue to bring me joy… I just can’t bring myself to take pictures, make notes, upload, caption and post.  It all sounds like WORK.

So!  I apologize to those of you who might be waiting for an update.  I thank all of you for your patience, and I KNOW you understand.

Today is the 2 year Anniversary of my sign up date on WordPress.  I wish I had a proper post for you, but I thank you for reading, I thank you for following – and I promise I have not abandoned the Zale Family.

(I am considering deleting the Lightning Blog… It’s almost over, and not that epic…)

For hanging in there, here’s a sneak peek into the next post.

Stay awesome and hang in there.  I’ll be back.
Until next time, Happy Simming!

Liebster Award

liebster-award-300-px

Wow!  Thanks Sam!  Dear somebodysangel has nominated me for the Liebster Award!  Sam is the author of the competed Maloney WYDC, the in progess Epic Rourke Legacy, and the recently started Young Forever BISBI.  Sam, I’m very touched by your nomination and your sweet message.

The award is to help bloggers with under 3,000 followers to, well, get some new ones (hopefully). Really great idea to help us spread the word about awesome blogs we’ve found.

The Official Rules:

1. Post the award on your blog.

2. Thank the blogger who presented the award and link back to their blog.

3. Nominate 5-11 bloggers whom you feel deserve this award and have fewer than or equal to 3,000 followers.

4. Answer 11 questions posted by the nominator, and ask your nominees 11 questions.

First – I want to point out that Pink , Zefie and Tam would be on my list, but I know for a fact they have already been nominated, so here’s to you!  My honorable mention! ❤

My Nominees Are…

Sammy-Sama – Author of The Bagrov Legacy and the Miller-Yang Legacy.  Sammy is one of the first people to start reading my blog, and she has brought me nothing but wonderful kindness, support and friendship.  Her two blogs, the Bagrovs and the Miller-Yangs are funny, entertaining and a delight to read.  Her struggled with TS3 would have lead many users to quit, but Sammy fights on, and brings some fun and original takes on The Sims.

Velle (dashingsyndrome) – Author of the Landgraabacy – if you want to laugh, oh so very hard, and just every so often feel a couple feels, this is the blog for you.  I learn so much about TS4 when I read her blog!  And I can never get through a post without A. Wanting to play RIGHT NOW, and B. Laughing so hard!

Sam (gryffindork7) – Author of the Dysfunkshinul Legacy – Sam, if you’ve already been nominated, I apologize!  Fun, chaos, and no fat chicks adorn the Dysfunctional Legacy.  Founded somewhere in the space of when trailer met trash, spawns some of the most hilarious SimAntics around.

Plumbawesim – Author of It’s a Small World After All – a Cultural Legacy Challenge.  I love this blog.  The amount of work that goes into it is not lost on me!  I just take snap shots and capture them, but Plumbawesim has created an entire paracosm filled with nuance, detail – and just enough SIMS that it doesn’t take itself too seriously.  A take on Zefie’s Culture challenge, it’s so fun to see how the family moves from generation to generation, culture to culture.

Jenn – Author of so many challenges and blogs that I cannot keep up!  I follow her “junk yard” which links to every thing she endeavors.  Although she probably has many nominations, I just had to save a spot for her.  When I first started this SimBlog business, I found her success and experience intimidating, but there’s nothing but kindness and patience to be found.  Click around and enjoy!  There’s lots of great stuff to be found!

Questions Asked by Nominator:

1. Would you rather have a face clone heir or a Face One heir?
Ugh – neither.  But I do have to say clone.  At least there’s some family there, and they won’t look just like the maid, mailman, repairman, etc.

2. If you could change one aspect of TS3, what would it be?
A more stable, more functional game.  I get so much joy out of it, and so much frustration!

3. What is your favourite expansion pack? Why? (cliched, but a classic)
This is a fantastic question, and I’m not sure.  I’m torn between Island Paradise and Seasons, but ultimately, I’m going to pick Seasons.  I LOVE the weather, the festival, the moodlets and all the fun activities!

4. Who is your favourite spare in your challenge/legacy?
I’m torn between July, Tahiya & Ike’s daughter, who was overlooked for the Zalien, and Imogene who drown in the pool during a birthday party.  I’m also fond of all of the G Spares, Giselle especially.  And I loved Irene… hmm… too many to choose I’d say!

5. Who was the very first sim you created in CAS? Were they based on anyone?
No idea!  I probably just clicked around… it’s been awhile, ha ha ha.  I know they were not based on anyone.  I have only attempted to make “real” people a couple of times.

6. If you could create a new TS3 EP, what would it be?
Oh wow, I love this question… SO much has already been accomplished!  More than I could have even imagined really.  I’d rather have the game itself be more stable than add more too it, I think.  I wouldn’t mind some more world travel options…

7. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life (assuming it could sustain you), what would it be?
Grilled Cheese!  Ha!  No joke either, I love grilled cheese!  Or maybe Pizza.

8. What was your favourite childhood movie?
Um… I was obsessed with The Never Ending Story.

9. Did you play video games as a child, or only started when an adult?
Heck yes I did!  Opening up that NES system on Christmas day a zillion years ago was the dawn of a gaming era for me.  I’ve always played games.

10. What animal would you most want as a pet? (fantasy/extinct animals allowed!)
Oh man – tricky!  I recently watched the two How to Train Your Dragon movies, and I’ll take one Toothless please!

11. Do you believe in true love? Is there only one out there for everybody?
I’m going to say no.  I believe in love, and I love my husband, and plan on being with him until the end of my (or his) days – but I do not think there is ONE person for everyone.  I think there are many people out there who can become the love of your current life.  I believe that love is hard work, and you’re only going to get out what you put in… so “true love” and “just one” well – I have to say no, that’s just too romantic.

Questions For my Nominees:

1. Did you every play TS1?  How about any of it’s expansions?

2. Do you like to have the last word?

3. What’s your favorite pizza topping?

4. What is something you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?

5. What’s the last book you read?

6. S’mores – necessary camping treat, or gross?

7. Do you have TS4?  TS3?  TS2?  Name something you like about each one you have.

8. Can you speak Simlish?

9. How many Sims have you intentionally killed, and why?

10. I was asked this question, and I liked it – Who’s your favorite legacy spare?  How about Heir?

11. Do other people in your lives know you play and blog?  Do they care?
